Anyone whose ever been to a computer store knows this.  I'm not racist, and I know that is the first thing someone says before making a racist statement but bear with me.  Computer stores have 2 kinds of employees.  Type 1 is the useless dumb honkeys, their job is to swindle the other honkeys and know the bare minimum about technology necessary, part of this task is to give vague inaccurate answers to questions and deflect the customer from type 2.  Type 2 are the Asian guys who actually run the store.

The Asian guys are smart.  I'd do the exact same thing if I was in their position.  Anyhow, take my advice, whenever you go into a computer store, AVOID THE HONKEYS AT ALL COSTS!  They are lazy and useless as a rule.

I went into a store the other day/month/year and picked out a parallel cord for some purpose.  I wandered up to the payment desk.  Retail store usually have a desk for paying for things, its good sense when designing a business that all computer stores never follow.  I approach the desk, and there's a woman sitting at the desk, she's sitting in front of a computer and stamping papers.  I look at her and place the cord on the counter.

She looks at me blankly, doesn't say anything, then goes back to her papers.   I glance around the store at all the people with nametags wandering around and wonder which one of them is the cashier.  The minutes tick by, and I start to think to myself, "why is this woman sitting at this desk, is she the manager of the store, and they placed her desk at a counter right by the door for some odd reason?"

I look at her again, she looks back again, I look at the cord on the counter, so does she, then she absently shifts papers around.  I look around the store again, guys with nametags bustle around like chickens with their celerons cut off.  Minutes pass by.

I once again look at the woman behind the desk, and it start to see through her cover.  Then I make a bold move.

"Are you a cashier?"  I ask the woman.

"Yes, can I help you?"

Why the fuck do you think I was standing here you sack of shit.

I'm pretty mad at this point, but I just bottle up the rage.  I can't believe she sat there looking at me and not doing anything.

The reason you expect cashiers to identify themselves and work out the basic commercial exchanges involved in retail is that it makes the whole system work.

I agree that as a customer wandering around the store handing money to anyone in exchange for goods would be more fun than the standard retail practices, but we become adjusted to the normal procedures.

Hey baby, I'm loose, I'd love it if all stores were just flea market anarchy.  It would be swell, but since that isn't the case, it ain't how it is.

So the only reason that woman pretended not to be a cashier was to not do her job.  If you don't like being a cashier, quit, or better yet start sleeping your way up to customer service.  All I mean is there's options.
