Elderly woman remembers the good old days nostalgically, incorrectly.

When I was a girl people were more polite, and they were decent.  Not like today, today no one cares, the world is gone to hell and no one gives a damn!

I remember when I was 18, the year was 1943 and Bugs Bunny was stationed in Europe fighting Adolf Hitler and his allies, Walt Disney and Tom and Jerry.

The Beatles were fiercely fighting with the Japanese Pacific Fleet but taking heavy losses.  Emperor Tojo was certain that they could defeat The Beatles if they could hold the Pacific rim until The Beatles were weakened by fighting in two overseas conflicts.

Back in Canada, everyone was watching the prices of basic consumer goods rise while our nations were at war.  One day bread was cheap and easily available, the next day you had to barricade and burn down your neighbors house just to get free bread from the secret police.  Everyone did their part, I personally raised 5 million dollars to contribute to the war effort by selling lemonade to children in front of the bomb factory where all the kids worked.

Music was real music back then, I remember this group that used to come sing at the church, The something something Klan they called themselves.  They would do these outdoor performances at night, big burning crosses, people screaming, men on horseback nearly trampling everyone, that was really a show.

I was dating an englishman named James Bond, he was a good looking man, polite, courteous, always the gentleman.  Once he shoved me out of the way as a string of machine gun fire shredded the desk and chair I was sitting on, that was exciting.  We were married the next year in Times Square by the former Pope Jackie Gleason.

Those were the days.
